Schmitt's keynote presentation this evening was entitled "The Evidence for the UFO Crash at Roswell" and his message to the audience can be pretty concisely summed up this way:
"I have too many lucrative Roswell-related projects in the works to be able to admit that the Roswell slides were fakes.
Thank you
Goodnight
I'll be signing copies of my book in the main hall"

Perhaps quotation marks should not be used when it's not a quote.
But if that is the impression he left you with, got it loud and clear.
Roswell = Kaching!
Hasn't Schmitt long ago been discredited? He claimed he was a medical illustrator, but turned out to be a postal worker. Kevin Randle discovered his research consisted of an assistant doing all the work.
Amazing the number of low information UFO enthusiasts out there. Ignorance is bliss I guess.
And yes Mark, I concur. It's as if his tag team partner Carey told Schmitt, "Hey, shaddap with that apology thing. We can still milk this fraud for a lot of money.".
You forgot to mention that Schmitt claimed to have a Master's degree and was working on his Doctorate, both which were false. How many lies does he need to tell before people start catching on?
It is sad and annoying that he continues to get a seat at the table. Maybe that's about to change...

That pressure will not come from the broader UFO fandom. Buffs who care about facts are vastly outnumbered by people who want their beliefs reinforced. And so UFO groups will continue to pander; their survival depends on it.
